Beer is such a multi-faceted beverage. It has long been the average man’s drink - enjoyed at pubs and clubs, at sporting events, guzzled by the keg at 21sts and skolled by the beer-bong at buck’s nights, loved by the working class and loathed by the shiraz-quaffing bourgeouisie.
While most of the above is still true, beer is now taking on a new persona. If you precede an entrance to a dinner party with a 6 pack of beer under your arm with either the word Boutique or Import you are an assured hit. When once beer was simply fermented hops, drunk because of its attractive price tag, it now takes on complex flavours and after-tastes that can only be accessed after swilling the amber liquid in one’s mouth and muttering knowingly “Look at the Belgian Lace on that one”, or “Mmm, quite a buttery drop”.
Here at Amberliquid you can expect to find a bit of both sides.
Beer is still a staple in so many people’s lives but it is also fast becoming a trend. It’s all good - while we don’t want to indulge in passing trends here, any exposure to our dear amber liquid has got to be postitive - right? So here you can expect to find me ranting on about any experiences I have that involve our beloved beer whether it’s a night of drunken debauchery on the local drop or an evening of sampling a bank-breaking import from some far-flung corner of the beer-producing world.
I hope you will stick with me along the way and maybe even post a comment or two. After all, writing a beer blog alone is kind of like drinking the stuff alone - a bit boring and doomed to end in a hot, stinky, beer-induced coma…
Not that there’s anything wrong with a beer-induced coma, in fact I’m considering slipping into one right now…
Cheers!
