In fact, it is a painting inspired a photograph of a beer drinker in a bar in the north west region of Italy (where the beer comes from) many decades ago. You should try Moretti La Rossa - a srong, dark beer in the style of a German doppelbock - if you can get your hands on it. It was a great friend to me when I was last in Venice.
